TWO BOSS BABES DISCUSSING AUTHENTICITY

On this week’s episode of The Dope Ass Podcast, I chatted with Jessica Zweig (@jessicazweig for all you Instahoes out there) on all things 2020 and being authentic within the branding industry.

Jessica is the CEO and founder of SimplyBe., an authentic personal branding agency. You might remember her from her Cheeky Chicago days, but watch out world, she is now (and always has been) THE boss babe inspiring people everywhere to be authentic and align themselves within their own personal brand. She is currently writing her first book, Be. A No-Bullshit Guide to Creating Self-Worth and Net Worth Just by Being Yourself.

We reflected throughout the podcast and asked ourselves and others to think: What are we doing to live our lives authentically? Jessica explains that in order to live this way, it is so important to get introspective. We mentioned the phrase: “Your vibe attracts your tribe.”I think we both live by this phrase because it's literally science. People who are vibrating at this higher passionate frequency attract each other with this same energy and thrive off of each other. I can think of so many times I have had this strong connection with someone because we were both vibing at a high, energetic level. it gives me goosebumps to even think about.

To Jessica, authenticity is not just a buzzword that people are overusing and throwing around because they want to project themselves a certain way. She let us in on her little secret for being completely and totally authentic. She says, “Being authentic is not about pleasing anyone or making people around you feel comfortable; instead, it’s about the unapologetic truth and being vulnerable.”

Jessica explained how it was not until her late 20s that her whole life changed because of this newfound authentic mindset. She met her husband, her business took off, and her friendships became deeper and more meaningful. I think she is definitely onto something, ladies...so take notes.

Everyone has their shit. But, SHIT does not discriminate. It is the one thing that connects us as humans. We talked about how when we are willing to show up with our shit and be vulnerable, we become authentic and relatable and allow people to speak out who might have not before. By sharing our shit, we are enabling the people around us to be vulnerable and share theirs too. LET’S OWN OUR SHIT.

Speaking of shit… have you heard about 2020? I hear she is just FULL of it. All jokes aside, I think we can all agree that 2020 was just not it. This crazy year has taken a toll on life as we knew it, and as much as that is upsetting, we need to start growing. No one has ever grown during the good stuff; it's the tough times that make us who we are. With life opening up again, let’s start taking care of ourselves, our mental health, and becoming the best versions of us.
